Intermezzo, a global payroll infrastructure company, led by Siddharth Ram and Kumar Ramanathan, has announced $10M in funding from Crosslink Capital, UKG Ventures, CloudPay, Character Capital, Behind Genius Ventures, and leading angel investors.

Intermezzo is building a platform to automate the complex and highly regulated world of international payroll. Its founding team brings a combined 40 years of experience leading technical and product teams at Intuit, where they helped build the fintech company into a major industry player.

Global payroll remains highly fragmented and manual. Most HCM platforms lack localized payroll capabilities across international markets, forcing enterprises to work with multiple regional vendors and coordinate processes through spreadsheets, emails, and manual workflows.
HR teams spend an average of 22 hours per week per country managing local payroll, while error rates can reach 20%. These errors can expose 53% of companies to financial, legal, and regulatory penalties, while manual processing also creates significant security and privacy risks.

Intermezzo replaces fragmented payroll processes with a software-driven global payroll engine. Its proprietary architecture uses AI agents to extract knowledge from source data and convert it into structured, machine-readable payroll rules.
