Seraphim Launches Academy to Back the Next Generation of Global SpaceTech Leaders

Seraphim Space, the global leader in SpaceTech investment, led by General Partners Mark Boggett, James Bruegger, and Rob Desborough, launched the Seraphim Academy, a selective programme that will invest $150,000 in early-stage companies through two funding stages and provide up to 12 months of tailored support to help founders raise capital, secure customers, and scale internationally.
Building on the Success of Xona.
The Academy draws on Seraphim’s track record of backing companies early and supporting their growth. One example is Xona, a Seraphim accelerator graduate from 2019 developing a commercial low Earth orbit satellite navigation constellation.
Seraphim led Xona’s early funding rounds and continued investing as the company scaled. Xona has since raised a $250 million Series D at a $2.45 billion valuation, just seven months after its $170 million Series C. Seraphim Space Investment Trust invested another $15 million, making Xona its second-largest portfolio holding.
The Academy aims to replicate this approach by identifying promising founders early and supporting them from inception through global expansion.
Seraphim Space Academy: Investment and Growth Support.
The Academy builds on Seraphim’s accelerator model, evaluating companies on a rolling basis and tailoring support to their commercial, fundraising and international expansion priorities.
Selected startups will receive $150,000 in investment and complete the core programme over four to six months, followed by up to 12 months of tailored support across six areas:
Fundraising: Investment preparation, pitch materials and access to more than 800 co-investors across early-stage, late-stage and public markets.
Commercial growth: Sales, business development and international expansion, particularly across Space and defence markets.
Mentoring: Guidance from experienced SpaceTech founders and industry leaders through the Prime-in-Residence programme.
Global connections: Introductions to investors and corporate partners across the UK, Europe and US, alongside industry events and expert sessions.
International partnerships: Access to investment-readiness initiatives, including Seraphim’s work with Space Florida.
Long-term support: Continued access to mentors and investor, industry and founder networks beyond the formal programme.
Seraphim aims to support up to 15 companies annually over the next decade, helping build the next generation of SpaceTech category leaders.
The initiative draws on Seraphim’s experience as both a specialist venture investor and a publicly listed company following its 2021 IPO. Its wider platform has backed more than 150 companies across 34 countries, including 11 unicorns and six IPOs. Companies supported through its accelerator have collectively raised more than $1.7 billion.
The Academy launches amid strong sector momentum, with Seraphim’s Q3 2026 SpaceTech Investment Tracker recording $20 billion in investment and a record number of deals.
Alexander Holt, Managing Director at Seraphim Space, said:
“Technologies once considered decades away are becoming commercial realities. Through the Academy, we want to help early-stage founders turn that technical potential into businesses with customers and international reach. Our ambition is to build relationships that last well beyond the programme.”
Applications are now open to pre-seed and seed-stage SpaceTech companies developing differentiated technologies for global markets.
