How Momentic is Building the Definitive Verification Layer for Software

Momentic, an automated testing platform built to help teams scale coverage, eliminate flaky tests, and ship with confidence, led by Wei-Wei Wu and Jeff An, has secured a $15 million Series A led by Standard Capital, with participation from Dropbox Ventures and existing investors Y Combinator, FCVC, Transpose Platform, and Karman Ventures.

For years, automated testing has been promoted as the end of manual QA, with each new framework promising “write once, run forever” reliability. In practice, the landscape remains dominated by flaky tests, ongoing maintenance, and regressions that still find their way into production.

AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor now enable faster software development, but that acceleration also increases the speed at which bugs are introduced. Traditional testing systems were already under strain, and the new pace of development has pushed them even further behind.

Momentic provides a single source of truth for product behaviour. Teams write tests in plain English, and the platform’s AI handles execution, navigating flows, interacting with interfaces, and validating outcomes.

By tracking user intent rather than DOM selectors, tests adapt automatically as the UI changes, creating a verification layer that matches the pace of AI-driven development and eliminates brittle, high-maintenance scripts.

The company emerged from widespread frustration with broken tests and persistent production bugs. With coding speed surging through AI, verification tools must advance as well, and this funding round supports the creation of that needed intelligent guardrail.

Notion, Quora, Webflow, and Xero already rely on Momentic. In the past month, the platform executed over 200 million steps and caught more than 390,000 bugs, automating roughly 300,000 hours of manual testing.

Since 2024, customers have run more than 2 billion steps, a workload that would take decades by hand, showing what verification looks like at AI speed.
