Glydways, redefining mass transit–affordable to build, profitable to run, and a joy to ride, led by Mark Seeger, Blake Barber, Zach Zeliff, and others, has announced its $170 million Series C fundraise. The round was co-led by Suzuki Motor Corporation, ACS Group, and Khosla Ventures with additional participation from existing investors Mitsui Chemicals and Gates Frontier, and new investor, Obayashi Corporation, a leading general contractor and developer.
The oversubscribed commercialization round coincides with strong global momentum, including Memorandums of Understanding with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority, as well as the groundbreaking of the first publicly accessible system in South Metro Atlanta.
Total funding now exceeds $250 million, supporting the development of autonomous vehicle expressway networks designed to deliver significantly higher throughput and cost efficiency than existing systems. This approach introduces a new model of urban mobility, offering substantial improvements in efficiency, cost, and rider experience, while maintaining attractive operating margins.
The milestone marks a transition from development to real-world deployment of this emerging mobility category.
Glydways represents a fundamentally new model for urban transportation, moving beyond incremental improvements to deliver high-capacity, on-demand mobility that is efficient, affordable, and designed to reduce congestion.
With public operations set to begin this year, the company is transitioning into real-world deployment, supported by dedicated investors backing its global go-to-market efforts as it brings this new mobility system to cities worldwide.
Glydways defines a new category of mobility by pairing autonomous vehicles with dedicated, managed guideways, overcoming the limitations of operating on existing roads. This approach enables high-capacity, on-demand networks that function without congestion or stops. The system delivers direct, private rides, increasing ridership while expanding mobility capacity at a lower cost.
The vision for urban mobility centers on seamless, zero-congestion, zero-stop movement, where transportation functions as a continuous flow rather than managed traffic. Compared to existing systems, the experience is intended to feel near-instant and highly fluid.
Proceeds from the round will be allocated across three strategic priorities:
Geographic expansion: Launch of three operational pilots in 2026 across the UAE, New York City, and Atlanta, ahead of broader scale-up in 2027.
Technology development: Acceleration of next-generation Glydcar production in partnership with Suzuki.
Talent and infrastructure: Expansion of global teams and operations to meet rising urban demand, with a growing presence across North America, APAC, the Middle East, and Europe.
Glydways’ mission to deliver accessible, everyday public transportation aligns closely with Suzuki’s “By Your Side” philosophy. This investment reinforces the partnership, supporting continued collaboration toward advancing next-generation mobility solutions.
Obayashi Corporation views transportation as a critical component of sustainable urban development, including smart and compact cities. Through this investment, the company aims to support Glydways in advancing mobility solutions that address urban challenges such as traffic congestion.
The investment reflects strong alignment with Glydways’ approach to delivering high-capacity, efficient, and cost-effective urban transit. As both investor and partner, the focus is on supporting the transition from development to real-world deployment while advancing infrastructure solutions that generate long-term value for communities and can scale globally.
