Bios Life Emerges from Stealth with $25M and Partners with Tempus to Personalize Cancer Screening and Surveillance

Bios Life, the intelligent OS for cancer surveillance led by Ryan Richardson, Zach Taylor, Dr. Logan Frank, MD, and the team, has emerged from stealth with $25 million in seed financing to build a more personalized and continuous approach to cancer screening and survivorship care. The seed round was led by Redmile, Vsquared Ventures, and Kindred Capital, supported by a syndicate of leading healthcare and technology investors across the United States and Europe.
Bios Life is developing a predictive surveillance platform for high-risk individuals and cancer survivors, combining multimodal AI models with direct patient care. The company is targeting more than 40 million people in the U.S. who face elevated cancer risk or have survived cancer, many of whom experience fragmented, reactive care. Bios Life is also entering a multi-year strategic alliance with Tempus to train and validate its predictive models.
Ryan Richardson, co-founder and CEO of Bios Life, said the company is focused on providing personalized care to high-risk individuals and cancer survivors who lack access to advanced, tailored healthcare. He added that Bios Life combines specialized technology with a care delivery model designed to provide personalized support at scale.
A New Category of Cancer Care.
Bios Life aims to redesign care for cancer survivors and high-risk individuals through continuous, personalized, technology-enabled surveillance delivered by licensed care teams across the U.S. through a virtual care platform. The platform is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2026.
Kevin Oeffinger, MD, Director of the Duke Cancer Institute Center for Onco-Primary Care, said cancer screening and surveillance have seen limited progress over the past two decades, with many high-risk individuals not receiving recommended screening. He noted that Bios Life’s AI-enabled virtual care model could improve access to personalized cancer screening and surveillance by combining AI with genetic and lifestyle data.
Personalized Care, Powered by Genomic AI.
Bios Life combines AI technology with an end-to-end care platform to deliver personalized cancer surveillance and supportive care. Its approach creates a continuously updated “digital twin” of each patient, shifting care from isolated screening episodes toward ongoing, integrated surveillance.
The platform includes proprietary Personalized Cancer Risk and Cancer Surveillance technologies, alongside commercial rights to BioNTech-InstaDeep’s Nucleotide Transformer genomics foundation model. The model can interpret genomic signals at single-nucleotide resolution, including genetic variations that are rare or previously uncharacterized.
Tempus Alliance.
Bios Life has entered a multi-year strategic alliance with Tempus to use de-identified multimodal oncology data to train, validate, and deploy predictive models across common cancers. The collaboration aims to shift cancer surveillance from reactive scans toward continuous, predictive monitoring.
Through a separate collaboration with Ambry Genetics, a Tempus company, Bios Life will also integrate genetic screening into its preventive platform and survivorship program.
Ryan Fukushima, CEO of Data and Apps at Tempus, said the collaboration with Bios Life aims to move cancer care beyond treatment toward earlier and more continuous prediction. He highlighted the combination of Tempus’ multimodal data platform, Ambry Genetics’ hereditary cancer expertise and Bios Life’s virtual care model as a way to develop personalized surveillance strategies for high-risk individuals and cancer survivors.
Bios Life is led by co-founder and CEO Ryan Richardson, former Chief Strategy Officer at BioNTech and Chairman of InstaDeep. Co-founder and COO Zach Taylor is a biotech industry veteran and former Senior Vice President at BioNTech, while co-founder and Chief Medical Officer Logan Frank, MD, is a board-certified radiologist and former Director of Breast Radiology at the University of Missouri.
The leadership team also includes Head of Product and Engineering Geoff Hyde, formerly of One Medical and Galileo, and Head of Artificial Intelligence Thomas Pierrot, PhD, who previously led the Genomics AI research program at InstaDeep.
