Blacksmith, the fastest way to run your GitHub Actions, led by Aditya (JP) Jayaprakash, Aayush Shah, and Aditya Maru, has raised a $45M Series B led by Peak XV, with existing investors YC and GV tripling down. The round valued Blacksmith at $550M.
The release of Claude Opus 4.5 in December significantly changed how developers write software. Since the start of the year, CI jobs on Blacksmith have grown 5–10% week over week as AI coding tools drive more code generation.
As coding agents become more capable, the volume of code requiring validation and testing continues to grow. Blacksmith now serves more than 6,000 companies, including Supabase, Clerk, Ashby, and Mercury.
Blacksmith’s Next Phase.
Customers are increasingly seeing CI infrastructure struggle as AI coding tools drive sharp increases in pull request volume, creating more frequent incidents and merge delays.
Blacksmith began with purpose-built infrastructure designed to run CI workloads faster. The broader goal is now to help developers validate and merge code faster, giving teams greater confidence in every change.
The company recently launched [code]smith, a cloud coding agent that builds features, fixes bugs, diagnoses and resolves CI failures, and helps keep pull requests ready to merge. The platform will also serve as the foundation for [code]smith QA, designed to autonomously test changes before they are merged.
As AI accelerates software production, Blacksmith aims to accelerate the validation and merging of that code.
What the Funding Will Support.
The funding will primarily go toward expanding Blacksmith’s cloud compute infrastructure. The company currently manages hundreds of thousands of compute cores and plans to increase that capacity by an order of magnitude in the coming months.
The additional capital will help Blacksmith scale its infrastructure and stay ahead of growing demand.
