Archil, the cloud filesystem for AI, led by Hunter Leath and the team, has raised $11M in new Series A capital led by Standard Capital with participation from Y Combinator, Felicis, Peak XV partners, Wayfinder Ventures, with participation from angel investors including Anurag Goel (Render), Richard Artoul (Warpstream), Andy Jefferson, and several individuals at Antithesis and Clay. This round, less than a year after the seed funding, brings Archil's total capital raised to $18M.
This announcement highlights the growing need for new infrastructure as AI-era applications, across inference, training, and agents, introduce stateful requirements unmet by existing primitives.
With over 50 years as the universal data interface, the file system offers a clear path to simpler infrastructure, while its deep presence in training data enables agents to naturally understand and work with files and folders.
File systems have rarely been seen as a modern way to build services, creating an opportunity to redefine their developer experience. The introduction of serverless execution enables file systems to act as services, accepting commands and returning results.
As a result, Archil evolves beyond storage into the foundation on which agents operate.
