Rebellions Successfully Runs SK Telecom’s Sovereign LLM ‘A.X K1’ on RebelServer, Delivering Both Efficiency and Real-World Viability

Rebellions, a global leader in AI inference infrastructure led by Sunghyun Park and the team, has successfully run SK Telecom’s sovereign AI foundation model ‘A.X K1’ (hereinafter K1) on its own server infrastructure and demonstrated an agent service capable of handling concurrent requests from multiple users on top of it. 

The milestone demonstrates how a domestic large language model paired with a high-performance Korean NPU can power real-world AI services, advancing the commercialization of Korea-built AI technologies.

The demonstration highlights infrastructure efficiency through joint optimization between the two companies. Rebellions successfully ran Korea's largest 500B-parameter large language model on its RebelServer AI system, achieving performance comparable to global high-end GPU servers with a single-server configuration. By eliminating the need for multi-server deployments, the approach reduces data center costs while improving the scalability of AI services.

The efficiency gains stem from K1's Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture and Rebellions' optimized software stack. By combining support for large-scale MoE models with advanced distributed processing techniques, the companies enabled a single server to efficiently process high volumes of real-time AI requests without bottlenecks.

The demonstration also showcased a map-based AI agent service, highlighting the platform's real-world capabilities. A.X K1 successfully handled simultaneous user queries, such as finding pharmacies open over the weekend, in real time, demonstrating that a fully Korean AI stack can reliably power consumer-facing AI services at scale.

Sunghyun Park, CEO of Rebellions, said the demonstration shows that a domestic large language model and Korean-built NPU can power large-scale AI services while validating both infrastructure efficiency and real-world viability. He added that the company will continue working with SK Telecom to expand Korea's AI infrastructure and bring AI into everyday life.

Rebellions is part of the Ministry of Science and ICT's Sovereign AI Foundation Model program, where it is helping validate domestic NPU infrastructure and expand the adoption of Korean AI models. The company also powers high-traffic AI services such as A. Phone Call Summary and plans to support the development of accessible, domestically built AI infrastructure aligned with the government's AI initiatives.
