Volition Capital, a Boston-based growth equity investment firm, led by Managing Partners Sean Cantwell, Larry Cheng, Roger Hurwitz, and the team, has announced the final closing of Volition Capital Fund VI, L.P. (“Fund VI”) at its hard cap of $950 million in limited partner capital commitments. Fund VI was oversubscribed, reflecting strong demand from both its existing and new limited partners. Fund VI is the largest fund raised by Volition to date, bringing its total assets under management to over $2.6 billion.

With Fund VI, Volition will continue investing in founder-owned technology companies with strong customer demand and meaningful growth achieved with limited institutional capital. The firm focuses on capital-efficient B2B software, internet and consumer businesses, taking board seats while providing strategic support and resources. Founders retain ownership and control.

Founded in 2010, Volition has invested in more than 60 companies. Its portfolio includes Black Kite, ButterflyMX, Creatio, Levanta, and US Mobile, while notable exits include Assent Compliance, Chewy, Connatix, and Rounds.

“Since our founding in 2010, Volition has focused on investing in and supporting capital-efficient founders who are building high-growth, disruptive technology companies,” said Sean Cantwell, Managing Partner at Volition Capital. “We continue that same focus with Fund VI, where the impact and adoption of AI is leading to extraordinary growth opportunities across all areas of Volition’s investment focus.”

Volition combines a disciplined focus on small-cap growth equity with broad expertise across business models and sectors. Its portfolio spans e-commerce, security software, compliance infrastructure, mobile apps, vertical B2B software, and the creator economy.

This experience scaling diverse businesses gives Volition an advantage as AI reshapes the technology landscape and disrupts established business models.

“Every industry in the world, every function in the enterprise, every consumer application, every services sector, and every hardware category is being reinvented with AI,” said Larry Cheng, Managing Partner. “We are excited to launch Fund VI into the world of AI, which is driving unprecedented innovation and growth across the entire economy. We have backed founders with aspirations for greatness, and we believe truly remarkable businesses are being built today in the new era of AI.”

Despite the rapid changes across technology, Volition’s core philosophy remains unchanged. The firm works closely with each portfolio company as a portfolio of one, focused on maximizing growth potential while managing risk.

Fund VI will carry forward the same approach that has guided Volition since its founding: creating long-term value for founders, portfolio companies, and limited partners.

“Our mission to help founders achieve their dreams without risking them hasn’t changed,” said Roger Hurwitz, Managing Partner. “That north star has guided us through every market and technology cycle, and we believe it will continue setting us apart. We’re grateful to all of our portfolio companies and LPs for their continued partnership and trust.”
