Sunhat, the startup helping the enterprise automatically validate and share ESG and vital non-financial data, led by Lukas Vogt, Alexander Behr, and Ali Kamalizade, has secured €9.2 million in Series A funding led by CommerzVentures, with participation from existing investors Capnamic, EnBW New Ventures, xdeck, and WEPA Ventures.
Founded in Germany, Sunhat’s AI platform helps companies like EnBW, Ingredion, Grundfos, and Geberit turn ESG and compliance data into instant, verified, ready-to-send proof for customers, investors, lenders, and regulators. Employees spend an average of 360 hours annually searching for documentation (OBRIZUM), and half of digital workers report difficulty finding what they need (Gartner). These challenges are intensifying as sustainability reporting and compliance become increasingly standard worldwide.
The investment will enable Sunhat to continue its rapid growth, serving thousands of users across 20+ countries and targeting 10x growth over the next 15 months. The startup will double its team and expand its AI-native platform to validate compliance with 100+ global standards. Sunhat also plans 20 new integration partnerships and aims to close the “proof gap”, reducing the time and effort between internal knowledge and external reporting, helping enterprises move faster, win deals, and build trust.
Enterprises constantly need verified data, policies, certificates, ESG, and compliance records, tailored for each stakeholder. While this information is generated daily, it’s often hard to access. Companies that can deliver instant, verifiable proof gain a major commercial advantage. With GRC platforms projected to grow $44.2B from 2025–2029, Sunhat is well-positioned to drive this shift.
The need for verified proof isn’t new, but its scale now overwhelms legacy systems. Enterprises face thousands of requests monthly, from supply chain checks to ESG data and compliance reports, each with unique formats and deadlines. This creates inefficient manual work, draining productivity, slowing progress, and making it harder to build trust.
Sunhat’s platform is powered by Proof AI, trained on thousands of audits, assessments, and questionnaires. It identifies valid proof for management standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001), disclosure frameworks (CDP, CSRD), and ESG ratings, mapping them to existing enterprise data while continuously learning and refining its rules.
Proof AI Agents integrate with enterprise systems, from SharePoint to ESG, EHS, and quality tools, capturing new information in real time, checking for completeness, and alerting owners before anything expires. When a questionnaire or audit arrives, Agents produce a verified, ready-to-send response in minutes instead of weeks.
