Adaptyv Bio Raises $40M Series A to Build the Automated Lab for Agentic Biology

Adaptyv Bio, the automated lab for agentic biology, led by Julian Englert and Daniel Nakhaee-Zadeh, has raised a $40M Series A from Highland Europe, Ace Ventures, byFounders, and Y Combinator.


Adaptyv is building high-throughput wet-lab infrastructure to enable AI-driven biological research. The company’s work with Anthropic demonstrated a workflow in which Claude designed proteins, sent them to an automated lab, received experimental results, and iterated based on the data.


The company believes this closed-loop process, AI designing experiments, automated labs running them, and models learning from the results, could accelerate drug discovery and biological research.


To scale this approach, Adaptyv is developing a “biological gigafactory”: automated wet-lab infrastructure capable of running experiments at high throughput and matching the speed of AI systems.


Adaptyv has increased lab throughput by more than 5× over the past year and onboarded over 100 customers, including bio-AI companies such as Chai Discovery and Boltz, pharmaceutical companies including Roche and Novo Nordisk, and numerous startups using AI to accelerate drug discovery.


The company is now expanding its operations, with plans to double its Lausanne team and open a new office and laboratory in London in Q4 2026.
