Founded by Alex Atallah(Previously, Co-Founder at OpenSea) and Louis Vichy, OpenRouter secures $40 Million in Series A funding led by Andreessen Horowitz and Menlo Ventures, with participation from Sequoia and prominent industry angels.
The investment will fast-track product development, add new models, and scale enterprise support as OpenRouter becomes the go-to infrastructure for multi-model AI adoption.
OpenRouter hit a $100M+ run rate, crossed 1M developers, powers critical traffic for global organizations, integrates with major tools, and partnered with OpenAI on the GPT-4.1 launch.
Next, OpenRouter is focused on expanding its offering with more frontier and open-source models, smarter routing capabilities including regional gating, and enhanced observability tools. The platform will also improve model discoverability, introduce more plugins, and strengthen enterprise-grade features such as role-based access control (RBAC), one-click zero data retention, and SOC 2 Type 2 compliance.
