Antares Raises $470M Series C to Deploy Nuclear Microreactors for Critical Missions

Antares, building compact nuclear microreactors to deliver reliable, mobile energy where it’s needed most: remote military bases, austere industrial sites, and, one day, deep space and underwater missions, led by Jordan Bramble and the team, has raised $470 million in Series C funding, co-led by Paradigm and Caffeinated Capital, with participation from Point72 Ventures, Shine Capital, Industrious Ventures, and others.


The funding will accelerate Antares’ transition from a proven reactor design to deployed nuclear power systems, with the first installations at U.S. military sites targeted for 2028.


Investors believe Antares has moved from proving its reactor technology to preparing for commercial deployment. With the new funding, the company aims to scale factory-built microreactors for reliable, safe, and cost-effective power generation at U.S. military installations.


The financing follows a major technical milestone for Antares, which recently achieved criticality with its Mark-0 reactor at Idaho National Laboratory, the first privately developed non-light-water reactor to do so in the U.S. in more than 40 years. The achievement validated the reactor's core design, control systems, and instrumentation, providing a foundation for commercial deployment.


Investors believe Antares has distinguished itself by pairing technical milestones with early commercial traction. The company’s reactor design, fuel strategy, and focus on defense customers have helped validate its technology while positioning it for faster, more resilient deployment of advanced nuclear power systems.

The company's engineering approach prioritizes long-term operational performance and dependable deployment over one-time technology demonstrations.


Antares says the new funding will help scale its advanced nuclear technology from successful reactor testing to commercial deployment. Backed by defense contracts and close collaboration with the U.S. military, the company is focused on delivering microreactors capable of operating safely and reliably for more than six years, with the first deployments targeted for military installations by 2028.


The Series C funding will support Antares' roadmap from a proven reactor to commercial deployment, including the launch of its Mark-1 electricity-producing reactor in 2027 and the first defense deployments in 2028, beginning with the U.S. Air Force. The company is developing microreactors to provide resilient, reliable power for military installations, helping address growing energy security challenges and align with the U.S. government's 2028 deployment timeline.
