LeoLabs Awarded Contract to Deliver Defense Test Capability in Support of U.S. Space Force

LeoLabs, the leading provider of persistent Orbital Intelligence, led by Tony Frazier, Daniel Ceperley, Dr. Edward Lu, and John Buonocore, has announced it has been awarded a $20.68 million Prototype Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) to support the U.S. Space Force (USSF). Under the award, LeoLabs will deliver a modified LeoLabs Scout system, providing the company the opportunity to demonstrate its proven radar technology for a new defense mission set.

As threats become faster and more maneuverable, persistent tracking requires resilient, distributed sensing networks that combine large systems with rapidly deployable capabilities.

LeoLabs is addressing this need with Scout, a family of containerized, transportable 3D search radars designed to integrate with existing defense architectures. The systems can rapidly add sensing capacity where needed, expanding coverage, improving battlefield awareness, strengthening network resilience, and supporting persistent tracking in contested environments.

Following the deployment of its first operational Scout system for space domain awareness earlier this year, the award will support demonstration of a new Scout variant for future defense missions.

The award reinforces LeoLabs’ strategy of developing commercial capabilities ahead of formal procurement requirements, allowing emerging technologies to be rapidly demonstrated, integrated, and scaled with government partners.
