IQM, a global leader in building superconducting quantum computers, led by Dr. Jan Goetz, Dr. Mikko Välimäki, Dr. Juha Vartiainen, Sylwia Barthel de Weydenthal, Jan Kuerschner, and others, announced an over €40 million investment to expand its state-of-the-art production facility in Finland.

The expansion will accelerate the development, fabrication, and testing of advanced quantum processing units, as well as the assembly of full quantum computers, laying the foundation for scalable, error-corrected systems that can power the next wave of computing.

This move follows the company’s $300M+ Series B raise and includes an 8,000 m² facility that will extend cleanroom capacity and expand the quantum data center. The upgraded site will also double assembly-line output, enabling production of more than 30 full-stack quantum computers per year to meet rising demand and support ongoing R&D.

The investment in new cleanroom equipment supports IQM’s roadmap toward fault-tolerant quantum computing by 2030 and strengthens its long-term plan to scale data-centre infrastructure globally. As part of this expansion, the company is also advancing its sustainability goals, installing an abatement system to reduce direct production emissions and transitioning to 100% renewable district heating to move toward a carbon-neutral facility.

“This will be one of the world’s most advanced quantum computer production facilities, combining chip fabrication with full assembly lines,” said Pasi Kivinen, Vice President of Operations at IQM Quantum Computers. “This integrated approach allows us to scale in the areas that matter most: quality, volume, and reliability. The expansion is a key milestone in delivering next-generation quantum systems to our customers and driving meaningful impact.”

Beyond commercial scale-up, the investment also strengthens Finland’s and Europe’s quantum supply chain, securing chip manufacturing and quality control capabilities. It aligns with major EU quantum initiatives and reinforces the region’s technological sovereignty and global competitiveness in next-generation quantum innovation.

“Expanding our fabrication capabilities to produce large-scale quantum chips for error-correction will allow us to better serve customers and further strengthen our leadership in superconducting quantum computing,” said Jan Goetz, Co-CEO and Co-founder of IQM.
