Integral Raises €18m Series A Led by Mosaic Ventures and Reid Hoffman to Build the AI-Native Accounting, Tax, and Payroll Services Firm for SMEs

Integral, connecting accounting, tax, and payroll in one AI-native firm, led by Lukas Zörner and Anil Can Baykal, has announced an €18m Series A, co-led by Mosaic Ventures and Reid Hoffman, with its existing investors Cherry Ventures, General Catalyst, and Puzzle Ventures joining again. It brings the total capital raised by Integral to more than €30m.
Where Integral Started.
Before Integral, the founders spent years building banking and payments products for businesses and speaking with thousands of founders. A recurring frustration was not the product, market, or team, it was the paperwork: bookkeeping delays, payroll dependencies, annual accounts, and overburdened tax advisors.
The underlying problem was structural. Critical tasks such as filing taxes, running payroll, and signing accounts still require licensed professionals, while accounting firms face growing capacity constraints. Founders are therefore left with essential financial processes running on backlogs and manual workflows.
Integral was built around the idea that another software dashboard would not solve the problem. The constraint was not simply better tooling, but the limited capacity of the professionals responsible for completing the work.
Integral’s Approach.
Integral chose to build more than a tool for accounting professionals. It developed a platform designed to operate an entire licensed practice, with affiliated firm Integral Tax using the system end to end.
This creates a feedback loop between AI automation and licensed professionals. Corrections, overrides, and edge cases identified during real client work feed directly back into the platform, improving automation while giving professionals more time for work that requires their expertise.
The company is building the technology stack end to end to maintain control over critical workflows and adapt quickly as AI capabilities evolve.
How Integral Works Today.
Integral’s AI agents handle high-volume accounting tasks including invoice and bank reconciliation, account postings, payroll preparation, and tax filings. Licensed professionals at Integral Tax then review the work, handle exceptions, exercise judgment, and remain legally accountable for every filing.
Since the start of the year, Integral Tax professionals have doubled the number of clients they can serve, while monthly accounting turnaround has fallen from weeks to hours for many clients. Professionals remain in control, reviewing and signing every filing.
For founders, the model can mean current books, on-time payroll, faster answers, and compliance that requires far less day-to-day management.
Why Integral Goes Beyond Accounting.
Integral sees its model as part of a broader category of AI-native services: companies that deliver the service itself, rather than simply selling software to service providers.
By combining the technology platform with a licensed professional practice, Integral can design automation and human oversight as a single system. AI handles repeatable workflows, while professionals manage judgment, exceptions, and legally accountable decisions.
Regulation can therefore serve as an architectural guide rather than simply a constraint. Licensing, professional secrecy, and personal liability define where human oversight is required, allowing automation to be built around those boundaries. Trust becomes part of the system’s design rather than something added later.
"AI's real promise is amplifying what people can do, not replacing them. Integral shows what that looks like in one of the most regulated, trust-dependent industries there is: agents that multiply the reach of licensed professionals, so every small business gets the kind of financial expertise once reserved for large corporations. That's the pattern the next decade of professional services will follow, and Lukas and Anil are building it where the bar is highest: Germany." - Reid Hoffman.
The Investors Behind Integral.
Mosaic Ventures backed Integral’s approach to combining AI agents with licensed professionals, focusing on how automation, quality, and long-term economics can work together. Mosaic partner Chandar Lal said AI can enable companies to rebuild industries rather than simply improve existing software, citing labor shortages in accounting, tax, and payroll.
Reid Hoffman also co-led the round, reflecting a broader view of AI as a technology that can augment professionals rather than replace them. Earlier investors Cherry Ventures, General Catalyst, and Puzzle Ventures also increased their commitments in the round.
What the Series A Enables.
The Series A will support three priorities.
First, Integral will deepen automation across bookkeeping, payroll, tax, and more complex professional workflows.
Second, the company will expand its team across AI engineering, licensed professionals, and commercial functions, strengthening collaboration between technology and domain expertise.
Third, the funding will support expansion beyond accounting, tax, and payroll. These areas provide the foundation for a broader AI-native services platform.
