Hydrosat, providing irrigation and crop management solutions to help governments preserve water while increasing farmers’ crop yields, led by Pieter Fossel and others, has announced the close of $60 million in new funding to accelerate growth across commercial, civil government, and defense markets led by Hartree Partners, Subutai Capital Partners, and Space 4 Earth, with new investment from Truffle Capital. The round includes follow-on investment from the Luxembourg Future Fund, OTB Ventures, Blue Bear Capital, Statkraft Ventures, Cultivation Capital, and Santa Barbara Venture Partners.
“Hydrosat’s mission is gaining remarkable momentum. This funding reinforces sustained growth and enables meeting rising demand for intelligent solutions in national security and natural resources.”
— Pieter Fossel, CEO of Hydrosat
Hydrosat provides daily, field-scale thermal intelligence, helping governments and enterprises anticipate resource challenges. Its global temperature insights support water monitoring, irrigation optimization, productivity improvement, and early detection of vegetation stress or drought, critical as water scarcity impacts agriculture and economies worldwide.
With two thermal infrared satellites in orbit, Hydrosat now collects over 10 million km² of imagery daily, far surpassing existing commercial options. Advanced AI and machine learning enhance this data, allowing governments, agribusinesses, and researchers to apply high-resolution thermal insights at regional and national scales.
“Hydrosat’s data is emerging as critical infrastructure for water management, delivering continuous regional and field-level insights into irrigation. This clarity enables governments, agribusinesses, and communities to enhance resilience.”
— George Potts, Head of Hartree Partners' Technology Investment Business
Hydrosat’s imagery also serves defense and intelligence organizations, using thermal signatures to detect activity and changes invisible to conventional imagery, day or night, enhancing situational awareness across large areas.
“Space-based intelligence is rapidly becoming essential infrastructure for insurers. Hydrosat’s thermal constellation delivers the high-frequency data needed to accurately price agricultural and water risk, enabling parametric insurance. Truffle Capital’s participation will accelerate adoption across insurance and financial services.”
— Bozena Adamczyk, Partner, Truffle Capital
The funding will expand Hydrosat’s global footprint in regions including Central Asia, MENA, India, and Latin America, supporting next-generation constellation development and product evolution. Plans include scaling the thermal satellite fleet and enhancing water and crop management solutions.
