Gitar, an AI code review that fixes your code, led by Ali-Reza Adl-Tabatabai and Gautam Korlam, has emerged from stealth with $9 million in seed funding led by Venrock, with participation from Sierra Ventures, to address what we believe is becoming a critical constraint in modern software development: validating code safely at the speed AI can generate it.

As AI-assisted development becomes mainstream, the primary bottleneck is shifting away from code generation toward post-production processes such as review, testing, triage, standards enforcement, and release validation. This emerging challenge is the problem Gitar is designed to address.

The shift is structural, with rising volumes of pull requests, CI failures, and quality signals increasing the burden on engineering teams. This creates a tradeoff between speed and reliability, leading to reduced confidence or slower delivery. As AI accelerates code generation, validation becomes the primary bottleneck in safe software delivery.

Gitar transforms validation into an intelligent, automated system powered by AI agents that review code, diagnose failures, propose fixes, and add tests within existing workflows. By replacing fragmented manual checks with clear, actionable decisions, the platform improves software quality and delivery confidence. The long-term vision centers on making changes production-ready by default, automating routine approvals, and involving human oversight only in exceptional cases while continuously learning over time.

This shift defines a new category: code validation. While generation produces code, validation ensures trust and production readiness. Gitar acts as the workflow agent, turning validation into a continuous, intelligent system rather than a manual, fragmented process.

The problem draws on experience from developer platform work at Uber, where scaling exposed challenges across speed, quality, cost, and developer sentiment. This perspective shaped Gitar’s focus on real workflows, reduced noise, and built-in trust, reflected in its integrations, security, and outcome-driven approach to improving delivery confidence.

Over the next 12 months, the focus is on scaling adoption, deepening the product, and defining the validation layer for AI-driven software development. Built as an AI-native company, Gitar uses its own platform to ship quickly and reliably, with support from partners including Venrock and Sierra Ventures. The long-term opportunity lies in shifting software delivery from code generation speed to validation confidence.
