Cascade Space, developer of an end-to-end communication system design, test, and operation platform, led by Jacob Portukalian(Co-Founder and CEO), Arlen Abraham(Co-Founder and CTO), and Brett Gottula(Principal Communication Systems Engineer), announced a seed funding round of $5.9 million from Nova Threshold, Undeterred Capital, Y Combinator, Night Capital, Olive Capital, Valkyrie Ventures, Karman Ventures, Palm Drive Capital, Garage Capital, TRAC, Aurelia Foundry, Hawktail, MGV.VC, Pioneer Fund, Liquid 2 Ventures, and others.

The funding will accelerate the development of the Cascade Portal, a platform for designing satellite communication systems. Cascade recently open-sourced its spacelink Python library, which powers key communication system analysis functions within the Portal.

“Cascade Space’s mission is to deliver tools and infrastructure for spacecraft communication system design, testing, and operations—enabling faster deployment with high mission assurance,” said Jacob Portukalian, co-founder and CEO.

Communication systems remain a major bottleneck for space companies, particularly for lunar and deep space missions. Backed by a team of veteran engineers from SpaceX and Astra, the goal is to build an end-to-end platform that accelerates the pace of space exploration.
