Emm, developer of the first smart menstrual cup with integrated biosensors, designed to unlock insights into your cycle, led by Jenny Button, Joss Hawkins, Kaylin Zeuske, Hatty Stubbs, and others, has secured $9 million (£6.8M) in an oversubscribed seed funding led by Lunar Ventures, with additional participation from the Labcorp Venture FundTiny VCBlueLion GlobalAlumni Ventures (investor in Oura & Levels), and a network of high-profile angels, including Amar Shah (co-founder of Wayve), Vivek Garipalli (founder of Clover Health and Wormhole Capital), and Harpreet Rai (former CEO, Oura). Emm has also received non-dilutive funding, including grants that support innovation in women’s health technology.

This funding will help Emm bring its first-of-its-kind product to market, improving how cycles and overall bodily patterns are understood. It will also speed up further clinical development as the company works to advance research, diagnosis, and treatment in reproductive and menstrual health.

Menstrual and reproductive health remain underserved, with one in three women experiencing severe symptoms. Emm’s breakthrough wearable measures flow and tracks cycle metrics, delivering accurate, personalised insights with strict privacy.

Developed over five years with extensive testing and thousands of design iterations, the non-intrusive cup combines medical-grade silicone with ultra-thin sensor technology. The connected app automatically collects baseline data, enabling pattern tracking, deeper biological insights, and more informed healthcare discussions within three cycles.

Founded in 2020 by Jenny Button, Emm aims to transform outcomes in women’s health. The board is chaired by Grace E. Colón, PhD, a biotech leader with nearly 30 years of experience in biopharma, genomics, and healthcare, serving on multiple corporate and nonprofit boards including Voyager Therapeutics, MIT, and BIO.

Emm will launch in the UK in early 2026, with additional markets to follow. A waitlist for new subscribers is now open via the company website.

Jenny Button, Founder and CEO of Emm, emphasised the longstanding lack of reliable menstrual health data and outlined a vision for menstrual health to be measured with the same rigor as other vital health indicators.

Grace E. Colón, PhD, noted that Emm’s platform can unlock new research opportunities through combined biological sampling and data insights.

Mick Halsband of Lunar Ventures highlighted Emm’s advanced hardware and high-fidelity data as a foundation for transforming women’s health.

Megann Vaughn Watters of Labcorp underscored the value of technologies that expand access to actionable reproductive health insights.
