Aurelian, a YC-backed Conversational AI company, led by Max Keenan and James Liu, has secured $14 million in Series A funding led by NEA.
Aurelian reduces non-emergency workload so telecommunicators can stay focused on what matters most. The company’s AI voice agent handles non-urgent issues, such as noise complaints, parking violations, and stolen wallet reports, reducing the need for immediate officer response or on-site dispatch.
The AI system saves dispatchers an average of 3 hours per day by managing non-emergency calls. 74% of calls are fully automated without requiring dispatcher involvement, with a 0-second hold time — callers receive instant answers with no waiting.
Since May 2024, Aurelian’s AI assistant has been adopted by over a dozen 911 dispatch centers, including Snohomish County (WA), Chattanooga (TN), and Kalamazoo (MI). Emergency call centers are embracing Aurelian as chronic understaffing strains the sector. Dispatching is among the top 10 jobs with the highest turnover, with many dispatchers working 12–16 hour shifts and frequent overtime.
