Trigger.dev, the open source platform for building AI agents and workflows in TypeScript, led by Matt Aitken, Eric Allam, Dan Patel, and James Ritchie, has secured a $16M Series A led by Standard Capital, with new investment from Michael Grinich and the CTO fund. Existing investors, including Y CombinatorLiquid 2Wayfinder VenturesPioneer Fund, and Rebel Fund, also participated again in the round.

Trigger.dev empowers developers to build production-grade AI agents and workflows without worrying about reliability, scaling, or orchestration. While prototyping AI is easy, production-ready agents require handling queues, human-in-the-loop processes, and observability. Trigger.dev manages all of that.

Upcoming improvements include:

  • Enhanced observability and faster run starts with MicroVMs.

  • More integrations with popular third-party services for quicker onboarding and data access.

  • Expanded tooling, including sandboxes for untrusted code and a full suite for context engineering and management.

The goal: let developers focus on inventing the next generation of AI software while Trigger.dev handles the operational complexity.

Trigger.dev is already running hundreds of millions of agents every month, with over 30,000 developers building powerful apps, including:

  • MagicSchool – AI teaching assistants.

  • Icon.com – AI-powered ad creation.

  • DavidAI – Generating AI audio datasets

These examples show how developers are leveraging Trigger.dev to bring ambitious AI workflows into production at scale.
