Wafer, building the fastest open-source LLMs for enterprise, at the lowest cost per token, led by Steven Arellano, Emilio Andere, and the team, has raised a $40 million Series A, co-led by Marathon and Chemistry, with participation from Wing, AMD Ventures, and Outset Capital. Existing investors Fifty Years and Y Combinator are also doubling down on Wafer.
AI That Optimizes AI.
Most inference optimization remains manual, service-heavy, and largely static after deployment. Wafer takes a continuous approach, learning from workload traffic and performance constraints to identify optimal configurations across models, engines, kernels, and hardware. The goal is to automate inference optimization and continuously improve performance per dollar.
What Comes Next.
The new capital will support further automation of the inference optimization loop and accelerate development of inference infrastructure designed to continuously improve.
The milestone builds on support from customers, partners, investors, and the Wafer team in advancing the company’s vision.
