Valar Atomics, scaling nuclear energy for heavy industrial power and clean hydrocarbon fuel production, led by Isaiah Taylor, has announced the closing of a $1 billion Series B financing led by Sequoia Capital. As part of this new partnership, Valar welcomes Sequoia partner Shaun Maguire to Valar’s board of directors. Sequoia was joined in this round by Apandion, Atreides Management, Conviction, Dream Ventures, HOF Capital, Point72, Riot Ventures, Snowpoint Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, and other both new and longtime investors. Finally, in addition to the $1B of equity, Valar is excited to announce the closing of a $200 million credit facility led by Erebor Bank, as administrative agent, and J.P. Morgan, alongside Crescent Cove and Hercules Capital.

Three years ago, Valar was founded around a simple observation: nuclear power offers abundant, sustainable and efficient energy, yet remains burdened by one of the industry's worst cost curves. Traditional nuclear plants can take decades and vast sums to build, while weakened U.S. supply chains and shortages of skilled labor have made projects increasingly difficult to deliver. With global energy demand expected to rise sharply, the existing model is ill-equipped to meet the challenge.

Valar was founded to bring manufacturing economics to nuclear power through vertical integration and a hardware-first approach. Within two years, the company completed its Ward Zero prototype, achieved cold criticality of its NOVA core at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and was selected for two U.S. Department of Energy nuclear pilot programs.

Less than three years after its founding, Valar completed the Ward 250 reactor and began operating nuclear infrastructure. On June 18, Ward 250 achieved self-sustaining criticality, followed a week later by its first electricity generation, powering an NVIDIA Blackwell system. The company also announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to develop a waterless 30 MW AI factory alongside Ward 250.

Ward 250 has demonstrated the operability of Valar’s integrated reactor system. The Series B financing will support the next phase: moving from reactor demonstration to manufacturing fleets at scale. Valar plans to deepen its vertically integrated, hardware-first model across reactor deployment, long-term operations, and fuel production, with in-house fuel facilities located alongside its reactors. The goal is to build a scalable nuclear manufacturing platform capable of delivering energy at the scale of growing demand.

Every hour of Ward 250’s operation generates engineering, manufacturing, and operational data that can improve the reactors that follow. Valar expects this continuous learning loop to accelerate production, shorten deployment timelines and improve reliability with each iteration. The NOVA core took two years to complete, while Ward 250 reached criticality in seven months. As the process matures, Valar aims to scale from dozens to hundreds and eventually thousands of reactors annually, bringing manufacturing economics to nuclear power.

Valar sees a future of American energy abundance powered by thousands of strategically deployed reactors. The company envisions carbon-free, water-efficient nuclear energy supporting AI infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, steel production, and electrolysis while creating new industrial jobs. Longer term, Valar believes abundant nuclear power could enable applications beyond Earth, extending energy access across the solar system. The Series B financing is intended to advance this vision by accelerating the deployment of Valar’s reactor technology.
