Klarent, an autonomous software testing platform, led by Asheem Panakkat and Momchil Ivanov, has announced it has raised $8 million in seed funding to fuel its expansion into the United States following strong growth across Europe. The round is led by Mosaic Ventures, with participation from Moonfire Ventures and a group of prominent angel investors including Jürgen Galler (former Google Director), Harris Barton, and AngelInvest Ventures, among others.

Working on the Lens and Shopping products at Google, they anticipated two shifts at once: large language models would become genuinely capable, and the volume of software shipped was about to skyrocket. What drew them in was the alignment problem: as coding agents began writing more and more code, how do you keep them in check and make sure they are doing the right thing?

AI-driven code generation is increasing demand for software testing, putting human QA capacity under pressure. As code output grows, automated verification becomes increasingly critical.

The Problem: Brittle, Fragmented, and Expensive QA.

AI-generated code is straining traditional QA. Manual testing is slow, legacy automation is brittle across platforms, and early AI tools remain unpredictable, driving up costs without ensuring reliability.

The Solution: Deterministic Autonomy.

Klarent uses LLMs to generate and adapt deterministic test code, combining AI speed with reliable execution and cost efficiency. A human-in-the-loop service verifies every result, ensuring customers pay only for validated outcomes.

“At Google, Momo and I could see two things coming at once: LLMs were getting better fast, and the amount of software being created was about to explode. The question that wouldn’t leave us was the feedback loop. How do you keep these coding agents honest? We began by building evals for LLMs and quickly realized the bigger opportunity was QA itself. As AI writes more of the world’s code, testing stops being a cost center and becomes the thing that determines whether any of that code can be trusted.” - Asheem Panakkat, Co-founder and CEO, Klarent AI

Klarent is gaining traction across Europe, serving clients such as JD Sports, NZZ, and Sixt. At JD Sports, its agents automate complex workflows across multiple e-commerce systems beyond the capabilities of in-house testing teams. The company is also expanding into financial services, helping banks and insurers test applications.

“With AI, code generation is scaling faster than our ability to test it, so QA will become the key bottleneck. Asheem and Momo saw this at Google before most of the industry did. What convinced us was their insistence on determinism - using AI to write tests, not to run them - which is why enterprises are trusting Klarent in production. We’re delighted to back the team as they expand to the US.” - Chandar Lal, Partner, Mosaic Ventures.

Klarent will use the new funding to expand into the US, its primary focus for the round, while building on its European enterprise traction. The company will also grow its engineering team and expand its cross-platform web and mobile capabilities.
