Kindred, a members-only home exchange community, led by Justine Palefsky and Tasneem Amina, has raised $125 million in new capital – including a Series B co-led by NEA and Figma Co-Founder & CEO Dylan Field, and a Series C led by Index Ventures – to scale its unique model for community-driven home swapping.
This funding reflects a shift in how people live and travel. Once considered niche, community-driven home swapping has entered the mainstream, reshaping expectations around connection, trust, and affordability.
Kindred members are approaching a major milestone, collectively hosting nearly 1,000 years’ worth of nights and saving over $100 million in accommodation costs. The momentum underscores the power of a trust-first sharing economy to unlock collective value and transform travel at scale.
Kindred began as a simple idea between two friends, centered on making travel feel human again. That vision now lives through thousands of personal stories: an artist leaving hand-painted souvenirs, a comedian staying connected to a former neighborhood, hosts welcoming guests with flowers, anniversaries celebrated across Europe, and families finding refuge and care in moments of crisis.
Each story reflects meaning, generosity, and connection. As Kindred grows, the scope expands, but the focus remains clear, supporting the moments of humanity that shape a life well lived.
Kindred’s core principles remain unchanged. With the majority of members sharing primary residences, trust, care, and intentionality continue to take priority. This capital is not intended for growth at all costs, but for strengthening the infrastructure that keeps homes safe and travel seamless, ranging from professional cleaning to 24/7 concierge support.
The next chapter of Kindred focuses on deeper community connection, stronger trust, and easier matching. New features will allow members to form sub-communities, such as friend groups, alumni networks, or shared-interest circles, within the broader Kindred ecosystem.
Kindred is built on the belief that travel should bring people closer together, creating a world where the feeling of being welcomed home can be found anywhere.
