Porter, platform as a service, led by Justin Rhee, has raised a $20M Series A, led by FirstMark Capital with participation from Y Combinator and strategic angels including Dalton Caldwell and Ali Rowghani.
Porter was founded to remove the burden of cloud infrastructure for startups. Today, hundreds of fast-growing AI companies, including Series A startups like ModelML and Giga, and growth-stage firms like Nooks, Tennr, Homelight, and Getaround, use Porter to manage infrastructure across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Users can scale clusters to hundreds of machines and terabytes of RAM without DevOps overhead.
Many companies begin on PaaS platforms like Heroku, Render, or Vercel for speed, but scaling brings performance, cost, and compliance challenges that require consolidation on hyperscalers. Managing this infrastructure is complex, costly, and distracts from product development. Porter supports companies directly in their AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure accounts, meeting them where they inevitably need to be.
Porter enables seamless management of web apps, workers, jobs, and GPU workloads at full scale, with built-in SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance. Users can oversee multiple single-tenant environments for their customers. The mission is to make public cloud usage completely seamless, with new funding supporting continued expansion of platform capabilities.
