Lucend, building a future where all data center organizations in the world are transformed into intelligent ecosystems, led by Rene Gompel and Jasper De Vries, has secured $3.3M in Seed funding led by Remarkable Ventures Climate (RVC) and was joined by Mitsubishi Electric Innovation Fund, New Climate Ventures, Avesta and Stepchange with support from their current investor, 4impact capital.

Lucend is expanding its transparent data center optimization to the U.S., enabling enterprises to navigate complex operational environments with clarity and confidence.

The Transparent AI platform integrates with existing infrastructure, no new hardware needed, transforming static systems into adaptive, self-learning environments. By analyzing billions of sensor readings daily, the platform identifies critical connections and provides prescriptive recommendations, delivering verifiable impact while ensuring transparency and trust.

“Lucend’s Transparent AI platform processes billions of data points daily and delivers prescriptive recommendations for review and selective implementation,” said Jasper de Vries, co-founder of Lucend. “The human-in-the-loop approach ensures oversight, building trust in recommendations while improving operational efficiency, reliability, and enabling smarter maintenance and replacement decisions.”

Data centers were historically designed for uptime rather than efficiency. Since 2023, Lucend has deployed its AI platform across dozens of facilities in Melbourne, Singapore, Paris, London, Amsterdam, and Chicago. Partnering with operators such as Digital Realty, Global Switch, and T5, the platform has processed data from diverse climates, designs, and systems, including closed-loop cooling, adiabatic cooling, chillers, IACs, UPSs, and generators, capturing metrics such as valve openings, fan speeds, temperature setpoints, and pressures.

Results achieved to date include:

  • ~40% reduction in power use effectiveness (PUE)

  • ~25% reduction in overall power consumption

  • ~30% reduction in water usage

  • ~40% improvement in operational team efficiency

“As AI drives growing demand on data centers, operators must balance efficiency, uptime, and resource conservation,” said René Gompel, co-founder. “Lucend’s Transparent AI platform delivers measurable efficiency gains while maintaining uptime, requiring no new CapEx and avoiding operational disruption, saving some customers millions annually in operating costs.”

Komi Matsubara, Executive Officer at Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, stated, “Lucend demonstrates strong capabilities in AI-driven data center optimization. Integrating our hardware and infrastructure control technologies with Lucend’s AI platform is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver greater value to customers, strengthening competitiveness in the data center sector.”

Lucend is expanding U.S. operations, sales, and customer support to improve efficiency and extend the lifespan of existing data center infrastructure. In September 2025, Coolgradient received the Model IT award at the Yotta 2025 Innovate Arena in Las Vegas.

Regulatory pressures are increasing the need for data centers to maximize resource efficiency. New York State penalizes high electricity consumption under local sustainability frameworks, while Santa Clara, California, requires operators to allocate part of a substation’s capacity to surrounding customers, limiting available energy. At the federal level, the White House’s July 2025 directive on accelerating data center permitting emphasizes efficient scaling under local energy constraints. Lucend’s Transparent AI platform enables operators to navigate these requirements effectively.

“Lucend is a category-defining company with a world-class team,” said Murat Aktihanoglu, Managing Partner at Remarkable Ventures Climate (RVC). “Their AI-driven platform delivers results ahead of competitors, and early market insight positions them to capture the massive U.S. opportunity. RVC is excited to support Lucend’s growth in 2026 and beyond.”
