Ground A Secures EUR 9.1 Million and Prepares its Laser-Based Counter-Drone System for Series Production

Ground A, a German defence tech company, led by Dr. Tobias Brune, Daniel Hariri, Roland Spiegelhalder, and the team, has closed a pre-seed financing round of more than EUR 9 million in June, led by Vsquared Ventures with participation from Quantum Systems, as well as venture capital investors including GRIF, Robin Capital, ABACON, Leblon Capital and OVNI Capital. Also on board at Ground A are experienced entrepreneurs and investors from the European defence and software industries, among them Florian Seibel, Sven Kruck, J14 Capital, Andreas Nauerz, Marlon Braumann and Arx Robotics Managing Director Stefan Roebel. 

Founded in January 2026, Ground A completed the GA 1000 prototype within months and is now approaching market launch. After focusing initially on product and technology, the company is entering testing and validation and stepping into the public spotlight for the first time.

Series Production in 2027.

The GA 1000 combines radar, sensors, computer vision, proprietary AI, and laser effects in an integrated hardware-software system. It automatically detects, classifies, and tracks small, agile drones, while deployment decisions remain with a human operator.

Compact and mobile, the system uses an open, vendor-agnostic architecture that can integrate with existing air defence and command systems across land, sea, and air platforms.

Ground A is preparing modular series production in Germany, with capacity set to expand alongside its planned 2027 financing round. The goal is to deliver cost-efficient, scalable defence systems for Germany, NATO, and allied nations.
