Genius AI, building technology that makes every business the smartest version of itself, led by Danielle Cohen-Shohet & Leah Cohen-Shohet, has announced its Series D at a $1.15 billion valuation, bringing the total capital raised to more than $125 million. The round was led by Lux Capital, with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Imaginary Ventures, 2048 Ventures, L Catterton Growth Fund, and StepStone Private Ventures.
The company is also introducing Genius AI as its new name, reflecting an expanded customer base beyond beauty and wellness and a product that has evolved beyond software alone.
Both announcements are driven by a shared ambition: bringing intelligence to the in-person service economy, enabling businesses to focus on the work only they can do while automating the rest.
As AI automates more knowledge work, human-to-human services will become increasingly valuable. Skilled professionals such as physical therapists, stylists, and clinical providers offer expertise, trust, and presence that AI cannot replace. With nearly 8 million businesses and over $2 trillion in annual spending in the US alone, the in-person service economy is entering a new era.
The challenge is that skilled professionals often spend too much time on administrative tasks, managing calendars, payments, staffing, and customer communication, instead of focusing on the work they were trained to do.
GlossGenius was launched in 2017 with a simple mission: help professionals focus on their craft instead of administrative work. Starting with beauty and wellness businesses, among the most underserved by technology, the company replaced fragmented tools, spreadsheets, and manual processes with a unified system for booking, payments, and marketing.
Today, GlossGenius serves more than 125,000 businesses across half of all US ZIP codes, including salons, med spas, physical therapy practices, and wellness studios. The platform has helped eliminate an estimated 112 million hours of administrative work and supported more than $2 billion in additional revenue for customers. The company is approaching a $200 million revenue run-rate.
Yet this is only the beginning. AI has accelerated what is possible, moving the product roadmap years ahead. As models continue to improve, GlossGenius will evolve from helping businesses manage work to increasingly doing the work itself.
Genius AI exists to bring AI-powered automation to the physical economy, enabling service professionals to focus on the work that matters most. The company is building products that can independently manage the back office, from scheduling and payments to client communication and support, allowing practitioners to spend more time on their craft.
The real genius has always been the person with the expertise. The technology exists to handle everything else.
