Applied Intuition and Honda have entered a partnership to accelerate the development of software-defined vehicles. Together, the companies will build a consolidated, upgradable Honda SDV platform leveraging Applied Intuition’s Vehicle OS software and development tooling. The partnership deepens a relationship that began in 2019, when Honda became Applied Intuition’s first OEM customer in Japan.

The automotive industry is shifting from horsepower to computing power, with software becoming central to vehicle design and evolution. As software-native entrants accelerate development cycles, traditional OEMs face mounting pressure to improve software capabilities and speed up innovation, particularly Japanese automakers constrained by costly development processes and complex supply chains.

“Honda is a world-class, technology-forward automaker, and we’re thrilled to work shoulder to shoulder with them,” says Qasar Younis, co-founder and CEO of Applied Intuition. “This partnership is about combining strengths and aligning teams around a shared goal.”

The partnership combines Honda’s automotive engineering expertise with Applied Intuition’s AI and software technology to accelerate AI-powered development. The goal is to build scalable software platforms that enable continuous vehicle improvements while maintaining Honda’s standards for quality, reliability, and engineering.

“In the latest generation of vehicles, software is becoming increasingly important,” says Mahito Shikama, chief officer, Corporate Strategy Operations of Honda Motor Co., Ltd. “We believe software-defined vehicles will shape the future of the automotive industry and speed of software development will be one of the key competitive advantages for Honda’s vehicles. It’s critical to have experienced partners to collaborate with.”

Applied Intuition’s Vehicle OS will unify software workflows across electric, hybrid, and combustion vehicles, enabling faster development, greater code reuse, and continuous upgrades on a common platform. The partnership combines Honda’s engineering expertise with Applied Intuition’s software capabilities to advance the future of software-defined mobility.
