1KOMMA5º, the Hamburg-based CleanTech unicorn, led by Philipp Schröder, and the team, pledges to invest over 100 million euros in its energy intelligence Heartbeat AI in 2027. Around 70 million euros come from a new financing round at a pre-money valuation of 1.35 billion US dollars (approx. 1.2 billion euros), up 35 percent from its July 2025 round. Around 35 million euros come from 1KOMMA5°'s own operating cash flow. The funds go into AI development, software capabilities, and go-to-market speed. The round is led by b2venture, with Marunouchi Innovation Partners (MIP), one of Japan's leading cleantech growth funds, joining as a new shareholder. Existing shareholders, including CalSTRS, eCapital, G2 Venture Partners, and Eurazeo, are participating. With MIP, 1KOMMA5° gains a shareholder that brings deep expertise from its US investments in energy, AI, and flexibility.

Philipp Schröder, CEO and Co-Founder of 1KOMMA5°, says: “The new funds add to our existing investment budget, increasing our investment in Heartbeat AI to over 100 million euros in 2027. The objective is clear: the energy system needs a universal energy AI that works as an end-to-end operating system. Our ambition is for Heartbeat AI to become exactly that and to bring clean, affordable energy to millions of people.”

Heartbeat AI optimizes household energy systems by coordinating batteries, solar panels, heat pumps and EV chargers, trading electricity to lower costs and stabilize the grid.

Already active across five markets, the platform manages over 1 GW of flexibility capacity, making it one of Europe’s largest virtual power plants for households.

Micha Grüber, CFO and Co-Founder, explains: “Five years after our founding, 1KOMMA5° continues to accelerate its growth in all seven markets. In September alone, new customer orders in Germany rose by almost 50 percent year on year. The key driver behind this growth is Heartbeat AI. The new round was the first round focusing specifically on our energy AI solutions and was oversubscribed. We are making record investments in our software while our core hardware business remains profitable and cash-flow positive, and the company remains debt-free.”

1KOMMA5° expects 35–40% organic revenue growth in 2026, with its core hardware business already EBITDA-profitable. Up to €1.5 billion in financing facilities will support growth across public and private customer segments without adding debt to the company’s balance sheet.

Backed by investors including Porsche Ventures, Eurazeo and Hamilton Lane, the company employs around 3,000 people worldwide and ranks among Europe’s fastest-growing and most profitable startups.
