2150, a venture capital firm investing in technology companies that are redefining cities and the industries that sustain them, led by partners and founders, Mikkel Bülow-Lehnsby, Jacob Bro, Christian Hernandez, Christian Joelck, and others, has announced the final close of Fund II.
In 2021, 2150 launched with a €200 million fund to reimagine urban environments as climate tech emerged as a distinct venture category. Venture capital deployment surged between 2021 and 2022, with quarterly investments exceeding $10 billion, supported by strong global deal flow. Since launch, 2150 has evaluated 2,000–3,000 investment opportunities annually, highlighting the scale and diversity of founders working to transform cities and the industries that support them.
2150 focused on a research-led investment thesis targeting critical urban and climate challenges, publishing deep dives across sectors such as cooling, construction materials, water, industrial heat, biodiversity, and grid infrastructure. This approach informed investments including Blue Frontier, Luxwall, Nature Metrics, CarbonCure, and BioMason, with over a third of the portfolio tied to these sector analyses.
Four years after closing Fund I, 2150 has closed Fund II with €500 million in assets under management, backing 27 companies across multiple regions. Portfolio companies employ over 4,500 people, generate over $1 billion in annualized revenue, and operate in more than 100 countries. Fund II is already deploying capital across companies in industrial heat, carbon capture, metal recycling, and electronics refurbishment, with additional investments forthcoming.
2150 secured strong support from returning and new limited partners, closing Fund II at €210 million with backing from 34 LPs. The fund reflects significant institutional participation and high median investor commitments, underscoring confidence in the firm’s climate-focused investment strategy.
2150 expresses gratitude to its 27 portfolio companies, whose founders span locations from Ohio to Nova Scotia, São Paulo, and Istanbul, and whose global impact the firm supports through guidance and counsel. The team, now 17 strong across London, Copenhagen, and Berlin, with a median tenure of nearly three years, brings intellectual curiosity, drive, and mission alignment, partnering with leading founders to address the world’s most pressing challenges.
With the final close of Fund II, 2150 reflects on four years of progress defined by visionary founders, supportive limited partners, and a passionate team. The milestone celebrates past achievements while looking ahead to the opportunities and impact the next two decades may bring.
