WeRoad, a travel tech company on a mission to bring people together in real life, through group adventure trips and everyday social experiences powered by the WeMeet app, led by Andrea D'Amico and the team, has raised a $58 million Series C funding round led by Airbnb. The round also included the long-time investors, including H14. The total funding raised since the company was founded has now reached $100 million, which will support WeRoad’s first major expansion outside Europe: the United States.
WeRoad was founded in 2017 and has since taken more than 300,000 people on trips across 1,000+ itineraries worldwide.
In the past year alone, 100,000 travelers joined the platform, with around 90% traveling solo, reflecting the company’s focus on social and community-driven travel experiences.
WeRoad has built a large community around its travel experience, growing to 3.5 million social media followers and more than 4,000 Group Leaders.
These Group Leaders are experienced travelers who manage logistics and facilitate group dynamics, helping transform groups of strangers into cohesive travel communities over the course of each trip.
In 2025, WeRoad expanded beyond travel with the launch of WeMeet, an offline experiences platform designed for local social activities such as dinners, hikes, yoga sessions, and casual meetups.
In its first year, WeMeet hosted 2,000 events across 38+ cities, bringing together 50,000 participants and reaching 150,000 app downloads, reflecting strong demand for in-person social connection beyond travel experiences.
WeRoad is expanding into the United States at a time when AI and social media are reshaping how people connect, while feelings of loneliness, particularly among young adults, remain widespread.
The company’s approach centers on facilitating real-world shared experiences, from local meetups to international travel, with the belief that in-person environments remain one of the most effective ways to build authentic human connections.
WeRoad is entering the United States with existing international itineraries, US-specific travel routes, and WeMeet events as an initial entry point for building local community engagement.
The rollout also includes recruiting and training US-based Group Leaders, with initial selection activity already underway. The company plans to maintain its European operations unchanged while expanding into the US, where demand for shared in-person experiences is growing rapidly.
