Led by Mira Murati(CEO), Barret Zoph(CTO), Lilian Weng(Co-Founder), and other AI Titans, Thinking Machines Lab today officially announced its $2 billion fund raise led by a16z with participation from NVIDIA, Accel, ServiceNow, CISCO, AMD, Jane Street, and more. This is one of the biggest initial fundraises by any company in the history of Silicon Valley.Â
Thinking Machines Lab is building multimodal AI designed to work the way humans naturally interact—with conversation, vision, and the messy realities of collaboration. In the coming months, the company will launch its first product, featuring a substantial open source component, aimed at supporting researchers and startups building custom models. Thinking Machines Lab also plans to release new scientific insights to help the broader research community better understand frontier AI systems.
