Sila Secures $300 Million in Private Funding to Ramp Gigascale Anode Manufacturing and Strengthen America's Technology Sovereignty

Sila, building and scaling next-gen battery materials, led by Gene Berdichevsky, Gleb Yushin, and the team, has secured $300 million in a private equity round led by Atreides Management and Sutter Hill Ventures. The round is joined by 8VC, Bessemer Venture Partners, Matrix Partners, funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc, and other existing and new investors. The raise will accelerate U.S. production of Sila’s silicon-carbon (Si/C) anode technology, Titan Silicon®, and support a planned Phase 2 expansion at Sila’s plant in Moses Lake, Washington.


The United States faces growing risks from dependence on foreign supply chains for materials critical to economic competitiveness and national security. China currently dominates the battery anode supply chain, accounting for more than 90% of anode material processing and over 80% of global battery cell production. This concentration leaves U.S. manufacturers across critical sectors, including drones, sensors and electric vehicles, vulnerable to potential trade disruptions, export restrictions and supply shortages.


Sila’s team pioneered silicon-carbon (Si/C) anode technology, a next-generation battery material designed to deliver 20–40% higher energy density than traditional graphite anodes. The technology enables smaller, lighter batteries with faster charging capabilities. By combining U.S.-developed intellectual property with gigascale domestic manufacturing, Sila aims to strengthen the supply chain foundation for critical technologies.

Sila completed construction and began operations at its Moses Lake facility in fall 2025 and is currently ramping production. Located on a 160-acre site, the facility is the company’s first large-scale silicon anode manufacturing plant, designed to expand from an initial 2 GWh of Phase 1 capacity to as much as 250 GWh over the next five years.


If achieved, the expansion would make the Moses Lake facility the world’s largest silicon anode production site. As operations scale, Sila expects the facility to create hundreds of manufacturing jobs and contribute to the growth of the local economy in Washington State.
