OTee, redefining industrial automation with a Virtual PLC platform that makes control systems software-defined, open, and ready for the industrial AI era, led by Henrik Pedersen, Radek Janik, and the team, has raised a €5.3 million seed round led by North Ventures, with participation from Atlas SGR and existing investors RunwayFBU, Superangel, and Antler.
The funding will accelerate product development and international expansion as OTee scales its platform.
Industrial control systems power critical sectors but still rely on legacy, hardware-bound PLCs and closed ecosystems. As industries move toward AI and cloud, these systems are becoming a key constraint.
With OTee’s virtual PLC platform, proprietary hardware is replaced by software-defined control on open, off-the-shelf systems. This reduces vendor lock-in, lowers costs, standardizes operations across sites, and enables faster updates, while preserving the reliability and safety required for mission-critical environments.
“Industrial control remains one of the last major infrastructure layers tied to proprietary hardware. As software-defined systems and probabilistic AI advance, the control layer governing physical operations must stay deterministic, predictable, and safe.”
— Henrik Pedersen, Co-Founder and CEO, OTee
The technology from OTee is already deployed across energy, utilities, and manufacturing. It enables customers to reduce reliance on proprietary hardware, standardize control systems across sites, and build the deterministic foundation required to integrate AI into real-world operations.
“Efforts to apply AI and modernize operations at scale have often been constrained by closed and inflexible control systems. OTee introduces a software-defined, open control architecture, and its real-time integration with Cognite Data Fusion’s Industrial Knowledge Graph unlocks new opportunities across operational and IT systems, driving meaningful business value.”
— Paula Doyle, Chief Digital Officer, Aker BP
“With OTee, control logic can be developed and deployed more flexibly across sites without reliance on specific hardware or tools, while maintaining the deterministic performance required for safe operations. Integration with modern data and software platforms also unlocks new opportunities for optimization at scale.”
— Gjermund Mathisen, Technical Authority of Subsea Control, Aker BP
“The shift to software-defined control is set to define the next era of industrial automation, and OTee is well positioned to lead that transition.”
— Mikkel Strandkjær, Investment Lead, North Ventures
Industrial investor RunwayFBU has increased its investment in OTee, signaling strong confidence in the company’s long-term potential and supporting access to major industrial customers, including Aker BP.
“Continued investment reflects strong adoption among leading industrial operators tackling critical control challenges. OTee is building the foundational control layer required to support modern software and AI higher up the stack.”
— Peder Hjermann, Associate Partner, RunwayFBU
OTee is expanding its engineering team to meet growing demand. The funding will support continued product development, international expansion, and wider adoption across industrial operators, system integrators, and hardware partners.
