Mountly, a food ordering and discovery platform for mountain resort tourists, founded by Katia Sogreeva, begins a pilot in three French Alps locations, backed by a €600,000 investment from Amitours. The app launches with hot meals from local restaurants and pre-assembled grocery boxes across Chamonix, Portes du Soleil, and Les Trois Vallées, targeting a tourism market that attracts over 80 million visitors to the Alps annually.

The platform aims to unify fragmented local restaurants and food suppliers into a single, convenient interface. Major delivery platforms have largely avoided the Alps due to its unique challenges, high seasonality, dispersed villages, and limited digital infrastructure, making the market difficult to penetrate.

The Delivery Gap

This launch targets travelers in France, the world’s second-largest ski market, with 54.8 million skier-days and 5.5% YoY growth in 2025.

Despite strong demand, the delivery infrastructure remains underdeveloped. Availability varies widely across resorts, and only a small number of restaurants are listed on apps. The gap is even more pronounced for international visitors, as menus are often only in French, hours are inconsistently displayed, and without a car, options are limited to a few crowded tourist spots.

“We’re seeing strong demand for the French Alps, with a 10.2% rise in international visitors to ski resorts,” said Katia Sogreeva-Peyron, Founder of Mountly. “Travelers expect the same convenience they have at home, and with the Alps’ delivery market still underdeveloped, the goal is to create an efficient solution for both visitors and local businesses.”

From Fondue to Grocery Boxes

Mountly launches with two core offerings:

  • Hot meal delivery: From nearby restaurants to chalets and apartments, ranging from pizza to local Savoyard classics like Fondue and Raclette.

  • Pre-assembled grocery kits: “Essential Boxes” curated for typical holiday needs, family cooking, aperitif spreads, or barbecue setups, sourced from local partners.

Flexible Delivery Models

Mountly is testing four delivery models tailored to each resort’s logistics and guest preferences:

  • Direct restaurant delivery: Restaurants with their own drivers fulfill orders, with Mountly acting as an added demand channel.

  • Click-and-collect: Ideal for guests with ski-in/ski-out stays or personal transport.

  • Scheduled courier delivery: For restaurants without drivers, Mountly enables pre-orders with timed delivery via contracted couriers.

  • Third-party integration: Where local delivery providers exist, Mountly integrates with them to expand coverage.

Depending on local conditions, deliveries are made to chalets, apartments, meeting points, or even lift base stations where feasible. For now, Mountly partners with 20 providers across 11 resorts.

Travellers Expect More

The Alpine tourism mix is shifting beyond daily skiing, with more visitors seeking a broader mountain experience and easier access to local services. Resorts increasingly need solutions that support a more sustainable, year-round economy.

Mountly aims to become the go-to platform for mountain-resort travelers, starting with food. As it expands across the Alps, the platform plans to add services such as equipment rentals, activities, and wellness bookings, evolving into a full-stack experience layer for Alpine tourism.
