LeydenJar, a Dutch deeptech company enabling the world’s most powerful batteries with radical silicon anodes, led by Christian Rood, Christiane van der Wateren, Ad de Bekker, Evan Sanders, Ashley Cooke, Ewout Lubberman, and others, announced new funding to bring its breakthrough technology into full-scale production at its Eindhoven facility PlantOne. The company raised €13 million in equity financing led by Extantia and Invest-NL, which will be used to complete the last phase of the PlantOne construction and start operations in 2027.

LeydenJar has also secured €10M in customer funding from a major U.S. consumer electronics company, reinforcing strong market validation and accelerating its path to commercial scale.

LeydenJar’s silicon anode boosts battery capacity by 50%, enabling smaller, lighter, and more powerful batteries for applications from AI wearables to long-range EVs and electric aviation.

PlantOne will scale LeydenJar’s proprietary PECVD production to 125,000 m² of Silyte annually, enough for 5M smartphone batteries or global earbud demand, while expanding commercial and operational capacity for full industrial deployment.

Originating in Leiden, LeydenJar has grown into a global player, with operations in Europe, Asia, and the U.S. The construction of PlantOne exemplifies how the company continues to expand as a next-generation battery leader, scaling its technology to enable smaller, lighter, and more powerful batteries for the products of tomorrow.
