Jalle Technologies, provider of advanced recycling solutions that recover critical battery materials, reduce waste, and enable a truly circular economy for energy storage, led by Kerli Liivand, Phd(CTO and Founder), Erki Ani(CEO and Founder), Martin Jantson(Product Development Manager and Founder), Reio Praats(Product Development Manager and Founder), Ivar Kruusenberg, Phd(Advisor Founder), Priit Viru(Advisor and Fractional CFO), announced a pre-seed fund raise of €2 million from Enterprise Estonia (EIS) and the Environmental Investment Centre (KIK) with early-stage equity investments from Kiilto Ventures, 2C Ventures, and experienced angel investors Andrus Purde and Priit Viru.
This investment will support Jalle Technologies in scaling production, validating its proprietary technology, and expanding its team in Estonia.
Europe faces a looming battery recycling crisis, with end-of-life lithium-ion battery volumes projected to surpass 230 kilotonnes annually by 2030—a 70-fold rise from 2020. New EU rules mandate at least 70% recycling efficiency, accelerating the need for advanced, sustainable technologies.
Jälle addresses this challenge through a science-led approach, leveraging proprietary processes developed based on research at Estonia’s National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics. These processes enable efficient recovery of critical metals and the upcycling of discarded graphite waste into few-layer graphene-like materials, known for their exceptional strength, conductivity, and flexibility—ideal for use in composites, coatings, electronics, and energy storage.
