Impulse Space, developing the in-space mobility infrastructure to accelerate our future beyond Earth, led by renowned propulsion expert Tom Mueller, and the team, has announced a $308 million extension to its Series D round, bringing the combined round total to $808 million. The extension included participation from existing investors 137 Ventures, BANNER VC, DFJ Growth, Linse Capital, Lux Capital, and Valor Equity Partners, among others, reflecting continued confidence in the company and its long-term vision.

Expanding Space Mobility Capabilities.

The additional capital will fund product development and team growth as Impulse expands its capabilities for commercial, civil, and government customers.

The focus comes as demand for post-launch space mobility grows, increasing the need for vehicles capable of fast, precise, and agile movement in orbit.

“This continued support from our investors strengthens our ability to build the systems that will unlock the space economy,” said Eric Romo, President and COO of Impulse Space. “Over the past year, we’ve more than doubled our headcount and expanded our footprint across the country, building the team and capabilities needed to enable faster, more flexible movement in space for our customers.”

Expanding In-Space Mobility.

Recent government contracts highlight growing demand for Impulse’s in-space mobility systems. Its Helios spacecraft was selected for the U.S. Space Force’s NSSL Phase 3 Lane 1 program, making Impulse the first upper-stage prime awarded a position. The company also received a $28 million contract extension from Space Systems Command to support the VICTUS SALO 2 and 3 missions.

Impulse’s portfolio spans Mira for precision maneuvering, Helios as a high-energy kick stage, and Caravan for rideshare missions. The company recently added Electra, an electric propulsion system that complements its chemical propulsion technology and expands options for dynamic in-space missions.

“We’re building a team of top talent across disciplines to deliver on very strong industry demand. This funding supports our ongoing growth across people, products, and facilities,” said Tom Mueller, founder and CEO of Impulse Space. “It’s an exciting time to be in the business of space, and we’re proud to be defining the infrastructure that powers our future beyond Earth.”

Strengthening Financial Leadership.

Impulse has appointed Adam Townsend as its first Chief Financial Officer, adding financial leadership as the company scales its capital base and operations.

Townsend joins from VIZIO, where he served as CFO and Head of HR Operations, overseeing the company’s growth, IPO, and eventual sale to Walmart. He previously held senior finance roles at CBS Corp., Showtime Networks, and E*TRADE Financial.
