Ark Climate, a software company that offers an end-to-end solution for municipal climate action, led by Ruth Bosse, and the team, has raised €2.1M in a Pre-Seed round of funding, led by Satgana, joined by another.vc, the Voyagers Climate Fund, and several experienced angel investors, reflecting strong support from key opinion leaders. The Federal Ministry of Research also participated in the round.
The German company will use the capital to expand its team, strengthen its presence in the domestic market, and further develop advanced emissions data and AI models.
What Does Ark Climate Solve?
Municipalities face increasing pressure to deliver local climate action across transport, heating, and public infrastructure. In Germany alone, cities could cut over 100 million tons of COâ‚‚e, about 16% of national emissions, according to the German Environment Agency, yet progress remains slow.
Fragmented data, complex decision-making, and stakeholder coordination challenges prevent effective implementation. Ark Climate addresses this execution gap in municipal climate action.
Ark Climate: Data-Driven Climate Action in Cities
Founded in 2024 by Ruth Bosse, Ark Climate provides a cloud-based platform designed for municipal climate management. The platform consolidates climate data and connects key stakeholders within a shared digital workspace, enabling cities to plan, coordinate, and track climate initiatives transparently.
Embedded data models analyze energy use and emissions while evaluating the impact of individual measures. This structured approach helps municipalities prioritize high-impact actions and assess whether current efforts align with established political climate targets.
The platform enables cities to make informed decisions and act quickly, even with limited resources, to effectively reduce emissions. Ongoing development of AI-powered Climate Intelligence is aimed at further accelerating local climate action, according to Ruth Bosse, CEO of Ark Climate.
Ark Climate partners with 43 municipalities across Germany, including Berlin Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Solingen, Bamberg, and Kassel. Strong momentum is evident among cities seeking to advance both climate action and digitalization.
A €2.1 million pre-seed round supports the expansion of the 12-person team and continued platform development aligned closely with municipal needs, Bosse notes.
The Überlingen, an early customer, highlights the platform’s impact: climate action measures can be coordinated efficiently, cross-department collaboration is streamlined, and progress is presented transparently. According to Jannik Vester, Climate Protection Manager for the city, Ark Climate is contributing meaningfully to the path toward greenhouse gas neutrality.
Ark Climate Expands Its Role
The Munich-based climate and gov-tech startup continues to scale its platform, strengthening its position as a digital partner for municipal climate action.
With growing investor backing and customer adoption, Ark Climate is emerging as a key technology provider for data-driven local climate implementation.
