Brickanta, construction's AI-native operating system for bid analysis, cost estimation, and procurement, led by Lucas Otterling, Linus B, and others, has secured $8M Seed funding, led by Northzone, with participation from global sports stars, founders of Lovable, Tandem Health, and angel investors from OpenAI, Google, and Meta.
Brickanta is building an AI-native operating system for construction, starting with pre-construction workflows that shape the outcome of entire projects, bid analysis, cost estimation, and procurement. Construction is a $15 trillion global industry, yet trillions are lost annually due to miscalculations, errors, and waste. Brickanta’s platform embeds industry knowledge from real project data, standards, and documentation to help teams identify gaps, price risk, and generate procurement packages significantly faster than traditional tools.
Brickanta has onboarded hundreds of users across eleven countries, enabling builders to connect internal data for AI-powered gap analysis and risk detection. Cost estimators report that correctly pricing a single change order can determine project profitability, while procurement teams can generate category-specific RFP bundles in about 15 minutes, down from days of manual work.
“Since launching at Y Combinator in October, Brickanta has seen rapid global demand, with its AI already used in real estimation and procurement workflows. Despite construction’s conservative reputation, next-generation builders are eagerly adopting AI built for how they actually build the physical world,” said co-founder and CEO Lucas Otterling.
The round was led by Northzone, the VC firm behind Spotify, Klarna, and Spacemaker (acquired by Autodesk). Additional investors include construction and real estate leaders such as Johan Edenström, Kalle Erlandsson, Tobias Hedlund, Stefan Lennhammer, Tom Sakofall, and Oliver Robsahm.
The round also includes world-class AI and tech founders and operators such as Anton Osika (Lovable), Lukas Saari and Oliver Åstrand (Tandem Health), Alfred Wahlforss (Listen Labs), Fredrik Carlsson (RISE), Agnes Sjöberg (Google), Erik Engellau-Nilsson (Klarna/Norrsken), Joel Wägmark (Atlar), Gabriel Petersson (OpenAI), Navid Haddad (Meta), and JJ Fiegelman (WayUp).
Global sports stars Mario Götze and Cody Gakpo, along with 20VC, Y Combinator, and SSE Business Lab, are also early backers.
Northzone partner Pär-Jörgen Pärson says construction has seen decades of low productivity, and AI could be the breakthrough. He believes Brickanta’s AI platform tackles the industry’s massive complexity in planning and execution, and Northzone is excited to back the founders in building the company.
Brickanta is scaling across Europe to leverage shared building standards like Eurocodes and has quadrupled its team across engineering, product, and delivery. While headquartered in Stockholm, it will maintain strong ties to Silicon Valley through Y Combinator, U.S. angels, and partnerships with leading LLM providers.
