Automat, simplifying business process automation, led by Gautam Bose and Lucas Ochoa, has raised a $15.5M Series A led by Felicis, with participation from Initialized, Khosla Ventures, and Y Combinator, with follow-on from K5 Global and Input Capital, bringing the total capital raised to $19.25M.
Automat delivers a simple way to build AI agents that operate computers like humans, offering a modern alternative to legacy RPA tools. Operators can demonstrate workflows, enabling rapid, scalable automation without technical expertise. The platform provides fully managed, deterministic workflows through proprietary agentic infrastructure and a forward-deployed team.
A pivotal insight emerged at Google X: advances in text-to-action robotics, combined with rapidly improving VLMs and LLMs, were making a new class of AI agents possible, agents able to operate software like humans, understand the intent behind actions, and adapt to dynamic environments and workflows.
Automat uses transformer models to deliver adaptable, reliable automations, replacing the brittle, costly, and maintenance-heavy systems of legacy RPA. A simple pricing model and streamlined interface let teams build mission-critical workflows without certifications or large developer groups, avoiding the limitations that keep traditional RPA stuck in an innovator’s dilemma.
Automat combines video context and spoken explanations to generate fully deployed automations, each paired with an Agentic Operating Procedure (AOP) that defines the agent’s instruction set and production environment. The platform provides usage analytics and performance monitoring, giving enterprises clear visibility into agent activity, effectiveness, and optimization opportunities. Agents blend deterministic and non-deterministic methods to execute quickly while self-healing as interfaces change. This infrastructure is designed not for simple demos, but for high-volume, high-stakes environments. Every automation ships with a production API for fine-grained control, observability, and seamless integration across customer systems.
Customers collaborate with forward-deployed engineers directly within the platform or through familiar channels such as Slack, Teams, and email. Insights can be tagged in analytics, agents can be engaged for ad-hoc tasks, and issues can be escalated to a dedicated engineer with the ease of consulting an expert coworker.
Automat is replacing legacy RPA with fully agentic, managed automations across banking, financial services, and insurance, powering workflows like mortgage disclosures, KYC verification across government sites, and large-scale claims processing while saving enterprises significant operational cost; companies like Vividly now rely on Automat as their dedicated automation team, using UI agents to handle dispute filing, account access, and data validation across distributor platforms.
