Bunkerhill Health, empowering clinical and operational teams to build and deploy AI agents to bring their best ideas to life, led by Nishith Khandwala and David Eng, has announced the close of its Series B funding round, led by Khosla Ventures, with continued participation from Sequoia Capital, Felicis, Optum Ventures, and Y Combinator. The Series B brings Bunkerhill Health's total funding to date, including its Seed and Series A rounds, to $55 million, reflecting growing investor conviction that agentic AI is foundational infrastructure for healthcare delivery.

U.S. healthcare spending reached $5.3 trillion in 2024, while persistent labor shortages continue to strain healthcare providers. The growing gap between patient care demands and available clinical capacity has become one of the industry's defining challenges. After decades of investing in technologies that primarily document care, the focus is shifting toward AI-powered systems that help healthcare organizations act on clinical insights and improve patient outcomes.

Healthcare leaders increasingly view agentic AI as a turning point for the industry. As medical advancements continue to outpace healthcare systems' operational capacity, AI agents have the potential to help providers translate more clinical insights into action, enabling health systems to improve patient outcomes despite workforce constraints.

Bunkerhill’s Carebricks platform enables hospitals and health systems to build AI agents that automate clinical, operational, and administrative workflows. Applications range from analyzing cardiology imaging and identifying patients requiring follow-up care to streamlining prior authorizations and registry management. The platform is already deployed at leading healthcare organizations, including Cleveland Clinic, the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), and Intermountain Health.

At the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Carebricks is deployed across clinical, operational, and administrative workflows. The platform supports AI agents for applications including coronary calcium detection, nephrology triage, and lung nodule follow-up, helping identify high-risk patients earlier, prioritize care based on severity, and streamline clinical workflows.

Early deployments have contributed to faster specialist access, accelerated follow-up for urgent cases, improved adherence to care guidelines, and reduced administrative workload, demonstrating the platform’s impact on both patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
