Boston Dynamics, which develops practical robotics solutions designed to tackle today's and tomorrow's toughest automation challenges, and Google DeepMind, the world’s premier AI Lab, have formed a new AI partnership aimed at bringing a new era of artificial intelligence to humanoid robots. Announced at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, the two teams aim to integrate cutting-edge Gemini Robotics AI foundation models with Boston Dynamics’ new Atlas® robots.

The strategic partnership is aimed at enabling humanoid robots to perform a broad range of industrial tasks, with manufacturing transformation expected to begin in the automotive sector. Joint research efforts are set to commence in the coming months and will be conducted across both organizations.

Boston Dynamics, long recognized for robotic mobility and athleticism, announced plans to develop a commercial humanoid in 2024, following rapid advances in AI that accelerated real-world robot training and deployment. Google DeepMind, a leading frontier AI lab, has been advancing robot foundation models such as Gemini Robotics, designed to enable robots of varied forms to perceive, reason, use tools, and interact with humans.

The collaboration brings together Boston Dynamics’ Atlas humanoid platform and DeepMind’s visual-language-action models to develop reliable, scalable robotic intelligence deployable safely across industries. Additional details were shared during Hyundai Motor Group’s CES media presentation, with Hyundai serving as the majority shareholder of Boston Dynamics.
