Blacksmith, the fastest way to run your GitHub Actions, led by Aditya Maru, Aditya Jayaprakash, and Aayush Shah, has raised $10 million in Series A led by Google Ventures.

If AI can write code 100x faster but every change still takes an hour to test, speed gains vanish. Data from existing customers shows a 60% quarterly increase in CI runs per developer over the past year, a surge tied directly to the boom in AI codegen tools. With coding no longer the bottleneck, the real constraint is testing, reviewing, and merging. CI has suddenly become the choke point.

The journey began with the least glamorous part of the developer stack: CI, the plumbing no one wanted to touch. The big bet was simple: a cloud platform with a hardware–software stack purpose-built for CI could outperform hyperscalers on every front, speed, cost, and reliability. Today, 9,000 developers across 800 organizations run 12 million CI jobs each month, proving the thesis right.

But that was only the beginning. As software output accelerated, so did the volume of CI data that teams needed to debug and understand. This set the stage for a second act: CI observability. First came a logging platform, followed by a test analytics solution, along with a suite of tools designed to compress the time between opening pull requests and merging them.
