AI Coding Agent Devin's Developer Cognition Acquires Windsurf

Led by Scott Wu(CEO), Steven Hao(Co-Founder), and Walden Yan(Co-Founder), Cognition signs a definitive agreement to acquire Windsurf, the agentic IDE, led by CEO Jeff Wang.

Cognition has acquired Windsurf, including its IP, products, brand, and team. Windsurf will continue operating independently in the near term, while integration efforts begin to bring its unique capabilities into Cognition's offerings, enhancing the development of Devin.

Cognition has acquired Windsurf’s product, intellectual property, brand, and business operations. This includes the Windsurf IDE, now integrated with access to the latest Claude models, as well as Windsurf’s trademark and the strong brand equity built around it.

The acquisition also brings in $82 million in annual recurring revenue, with enterprise ARR doubling quarter over quarter. Windsurf’s user base spans over 350 enterprise customers and hundreds of thousands of daily active users, adding significant momentum and scale to Cognition’s growing platform.
